 The Province of Toledo is one of the largest in Spain and the City of Toledo is the capital of the Castilla La Mancha region. The city has world-wide fame for its unique history and its wonderful monuments but the surrounding countryside also provides a wealth of beauty, culture and history. The Province is a dramatic contrast between the best of yesteryear and a modern vibrant industrialised society. The whole province with its towns and villages has a unique relationship with European history.

Toledo is situated approximately in the centre of Spain and is divided into two distinctly different parts by the River Tajo. The northern half is largely plains bordered by the Sierra de San Vicente, the Central System, or Macizos Oriental and the Gredos Mountains; and the lower half consisting mainly of the Toledo Mountains, famous for its wild life and abundance of game

Between these areas the River Tajo gives life to the majority of the province's population in cities such as Toledo, Talavera de la Reina, Puente del Arzobispo and Malpica.
