About Chris Thomas GENERAL INFORMATION
PROFILE My basic early training was in design engineering and construction management in the hydrocarbon process industry. My career developed both in the UK and in the Middle East from site engineer up to the level of Senior Project Manager. During this period I was responsible for starting the company’s maintenance capability which was integrated into the construction division. As a result, I was the successful Project Manager on several large state of the art projects that had world prestige. In 1982 I became divisional manager and later Director of Costain Technical Services Limited where I was responsible for the overall performance of the company’s construction and maintenance activities. This resulted in several years of very profitable turnover in a exceedingly demanding environment, which included the computerization of systems. In addition, I was deeply involved in the development of ISO 9000 programs and the planned approach to modern safety. During the last few years I have concentrated my efforts in the Spanish speaking countries. In particular, I have worked extensively in Spain and Argentina. My approach to my professional work is based on positively embracing change but without losing the better traditional values. I firmly believe in a disciplined plan driven projects within a strong integrated team approach. I have recently developed and conducted Basic Management Training courses for Supervisors, which are available in both English and Spanish.
